Village of Wyanet Village Board Met Feb. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Village President, Bruce Hand, called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. Following the pledge of allegiance Hand, Bickett, Johnson, Kurzac, Law and Peterson answered roll call. Carrington was absent.

The owner of Ecky’s Tap, Suzan Eckberg, requested the renewal of their liquor license.

A motion was made by Law and seconded by Bickett to renew the 2021-22 liquor license for Ecky’s Tap. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Carrington was absent.

The owner of Sock’s Place, Mark Stocking, requested the renewal of their liquor license. A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Kurzac to renew the 2021-22 liquor license for Sock’s Place. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Carrington was absent.

Trustee Bickett gave the monthly police department activity report.

Trustee Law reported that the maintenance department has busy plowing snow, tuck pointing the basement, replaced the main support beam at the sewer plant office, repaired a bad spot on West First St., preparing the water plant office for painting and replaced the alternator on the Chevy.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Johnson to approve the consent agenda as presented. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Carrington was absent.

Committee Reports:

Water-Sewer & Finance – the utility billing software supplier will be contacted to see it a line item for credits can be added to the water bills.

Garbage. Streets & Sidewalks – delivery of the new garbage truck and cans will be delayed until the end of March

Personnel-License-Grants – the village had one employee quarantined for five days and a possible worker’s comp claim

Old Business:

President Hand will meet with the attorney to discuss revisions in the nuisance ordinances. A short discussion was held concerning wild animals and accumulated garbage within the Village limits.

New Business:

A motion was made by Peterson and seconded by Bickett to go into executive session at 7:45 p.m. to discuss performance & compensation of employs according to Section 2(c)(1) of the Illinois Open Meetings Act. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. Carrington was absent

The board returned to public session at 8:14 p.m.

A motion was made by Bickett and seconded by Johnson to give 3% pay increases to the two full time employees and Village Clerk/Office Manager, part time police officers will increase from $17.77 to $20.00 per hour, Police Chief from $22.97 to $23.50 and all other part time employees from $12.55 to $15.00. Bickett, Johnson, Kurzac and Law voted in favor of the motion. Peterson voted no. Carrington was absent. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Law and seconded by Peterson to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Carrington was absent.
