State Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) is all in when it comes to the passage of Senate Bill 2043.
“Thank you for this bill,” Rezin recently said from the Senate floor about a bill that seeks to amend the sick leave bank. “I just wanted the people on my side to know this is the cleanup bill for ISBE and I ask for an aye vote.”
Ultimately, passing by a 53-0 vote, SB 2043 seeks to amend the School Code to “make changes in provisions concerning the State Board's strategic plan, a State mandate report, the School Technology Program, a reading advisory group, school district and school report cards, the suspension or expulsion of pupils, licensure requirements for educators trained in other states or countries, chronic absenteeism in preschool children, physical fitness assessments, State reimbursement for transportation, and the Chicago Educational Facilities Task Force."
The measure that would take effect immediately also seeks to repeal a provision related to the State Board's annual report to the Governor and General Assembly on the condition of the schools.
