Republican state Sen. Sue Rezin recently took the stage at the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run demonstration honoring Gold Star Families - those who lost a family member in combat.
The Freedom Run helps fund upkeep for Illinois' Middle East Conflicts Memorial Wall, and the route the motorcycle cavalcade travels is lined with American flags.
“It’s such an honor to be here,” Rezin said in a video posted to YouTube about the June 19 event. "This is an incredibly humbling event to honor and remember those that have fought and lost their lives so that we can have the freedoms that we enjoy each and every day.”
Rezin seemed thrilled by the turnout and that so many felt compelled to salute those being honored.
“As you can see today, we’ll probably have up to 10,000 people who rode their motorcycles in the freedom run to acknowledge the Gold Star Families and acknowledge and remember everybody who has a loved on this wall,” she said at the time.
