City of Lasalle Finance Committee Met May 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Ptak Called the Meeting to order at 5:38pm.

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Ptak, Aldermen Demes, Reynolds (Arrived at 5:42 p.m.), Lavieri, Jeppson (Arrived at 5:39 p.m.)

Absent:

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, Alderman Bacidore

A quorum was present.

Moved by Aldermen Lavieri and seconded by Aldermen Demes to approve and place on file the minutes of the Finance Committee for May 3, 2021.

Each and every aldermen has a copy.

Aldermen Demes questioned a charge from Kittilson’s Garage. They charged a standard $70 shop supply charge. There should be $11.96 deducted off the last bill for a brake clean that would usually be covered in their $70 shop supply charge.

Aldermen Demes discussed his concern about getting an estimate before a vehicle repair. Demes said a request for estimates should be made before agreeing to work or service and the department manager can approve to move forward with the job. Committee agreed that an estimate request will be a good idea for future jobs.

The committee agreed to a donation of $500 to the University of Illinois Extension office for a contribution toward their annual education program. This is the same amount that has been donated to this group in the past. Brian Brown stated that the Extension Master Gardeners have been a huge help to the city with their projects.

Finance Director John Duncan mentioned that he will ask for a meeting, outside of a normal city council day, in the near future to discuss the budget once all numbers get set.

Chairman Ptak announced Joe Jeppson’s 40th Birthday.

There were no more questions or comments from the public.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
