The first half of 2021: Coal City (Grundy County) experienced a 14.1% increase in median home prices

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2021 in Coal City in Grundy County rose by $22,550 while total sales increased by 65.8%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June of 2021, there were 63 homes sold, with a median sale price of $182,000 - a 14.1% increase over the $159,450 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 38 homes sold in Coal City in the first half of 2020.

The median sales tax in Coal City for the most recent year with available data, 2018, was $3,467, approximately 1.9% of the median home sale price for the first half of 2021.
