State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown) sees the signing into law of Senate Bill 84, giving the Village of Dunlap control over an unused and impassable portion of the Rock Island Trail, as a win-win situation.
“The Rock Island Trail is a popular destination point for outdoor enthusiasts throughout the state and even the nation,” Stoller said in a Facebook post. “The signing of this bill will help improve the experience for everyone who uses the trail and more importantly it will improve safety.”
With the bill sponsored by Stoller now passed, village officials say they plan to use the space to enhance accessibility and recreational amenities.
As it is, anyone who uses the Rock Island Trail in the Dunlap area must use the impassable portion, which Stoller has long insisted is dangerous for both pedestrians and motorists.
Governor J.B. officially signed off on the legislation on Aug. 6.
