Western Ill University, issued the following announcement on Nov. 30
There's still time to get your artwork in for the Western Illinois University Digital Recreation Center (DiRC) art competition. WIU students with artistic flair are invited to submit their artwork for the competition.
Submissions, which should related to video games, are due by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3. Artwork can use any of the following media: painting, drawing, photography, digital media, prints and mixed media. Submissions must be no smaller than 9" x 11" and no longer than 11" x 17."
Entries must be submitted at wiu.edu/university_technology/announcements/digitalrecart.php. Winning entries, which will be selected Dec. 10, will earn purchase awards ($1,500 available) and juror awards, as well as spots of honor in the new DiRC, which opened Oct. 11 on the Macomb campus
The new DiRC is housed on Adams Street, across from Sherman Hall, and serves as home for WIU-Macomb's eSports Club and provides competitive gaming opportunities (League of Legends, Fortnite, etc.), console gaming, a virtual reality station and more. University Technology (uTech) manages the facility.
The center, which is currently open to WIU students only, will be open from 10 a.m.-1:30 a.m. seven days a week. In order to gain access, students must go to their STARS account to complete terms of agreement. Once the agreement is completed, students will have access to the DiRC.
