Report: Tonica School District spent $13,123 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Tonica Community Consolidated School District 79 was up 29.4 percent from five years ago, according to the Illinois Valley Times analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the La Salle County school district spent $10,139 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $13,123 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 215 to 137 students over the same period.

Tonica's spending in 2019-20 was 9.4 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
