State Sen. and gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey (R-Louisville) recently launched a group to pray for Illinois and his campaign.
Bailey initiated the supporter group via Tweet on Sunday, Feb. 27. As of March 1, the Bailey for Illinois Prayer Warriors group had 2,100 members.
"Friends, we are launching our Bailey for Illinois Prayer Warriors Group," Bailey wrote in a Feb. 27 Twitter post. "Please join us as we pray for the state of Illinois, our campaign team, and more."
The group will meet for prayers every Tuesday, according to a Feb. 28 Facebook post.
"We believe our united prayer and fasting on Tuesdays will be used by God to bring us through to victory," a post on the Facebook page said.
Last month, Bailey blasted Gov. J.B. Pritzker for seeking to extend the mask mandates in schools when a judge in Sangamon County issued a temporary restraining order against the mask mandates, according to Peoria Standard.
"As your next Governor, I will repeal all of Pritzker’s mandates," Bailey tweeted, according to Peoria Standard. "You should make these decisions, not government."
In December, Bailey named former radio show host Stephanie Trussell as his running mate, according to East Central Reporter.
