Analysis: Princeton administrators rank 235th in state for average pay

Administrators in Princeton High School District 500 earn an average of $114,356 per year, ranking 235th out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a Illinois Valley Times analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 4.2 percent lower than in 2016 and 4.1 percent higher than in 2011. District administrators make 2.8 percent more than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Princeton School District in Bureau County enrolled 533 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 178 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
