City of Peru Finance Committee met Feb. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Payton, Sapienza, Buffo and Tieman present.

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: City Clerk Dave Bartley, Mayor Kolowski, Alderman Waldorf, Alderman Lukosus, Alderman Ballard, Alderman Edgcomb, Justin Miller, Director of Finance, Police Chief Bob Pyszka, PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King, Director of Engineering and Zoning Eric Carls, Human Resource Director Kim Reese, IT Director Stephen Rounds, Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events and Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert

MINUTES

Alderman Edgcomb made a motion to approve the Finance Committee Minutes of January 31, 2022. Alderman Buffo seconded the motion; motion carried.

DISBURSMENTS

Committee reviewed and approved the disbursements for payment on February 16, 2022.

OLD BUSINESS

Justin Miller, Director of Finance provided the following finance update:

• Budget Update

o Handed out second draft of proposed FY23 budget

• ERP System Update

o Two new meetings scheduled

Kim Reese, Director of Human Resources reported on the following:

• Noted hiring of selected candidate for laborer position

• Received letter to negotiate with Fire

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Payton reviewed the recommendation of PSM King to pursue a new 3-ton truck.

Mayor Kolowski initiated a conversation on video gaming fees. Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert noted the recent legislation and stated the VGT fees are paid half/half by the operator and terminal distributors. Clerk Bartley noted the current fee is $35.00 per VGT and is customarily paid by the operator/business. The

Committee discussed increasing the fees and what the impact would be for local operators. Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert to prepare a draft ordinance to review at the next Finance Committee meeting.

Alderman Tieman made a motion to adjourn. Alderman Buffo seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
