City of Peru Public Services Committee met April 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Edgcomb present. Alderman Ballard absent.

OTHER PERSONS PRESENT: Clerk Bartley, Mayor Kolowski, Treasurer Jackson Powell, Alderman Sapienza, Alderman Payton, Alderman Edgcomb, Alderman Tieman, Deputy Police Chief Sarah Raymond, PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King, Director of Engineering and Zoning Eric Carls, Human Resource Director Kim Reese, IT Director Stephen Rounds, Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events, Mike Perry of Chamlin and Associates and Chris Perra of T.E.S.T.

MINUTES

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting minutes of March 28, 2022. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.

STREETS & ALLEY

Committee discussed and recommended purchase of a 2012 International 7400 SFA 4x2 from Thompson Truck and Trailer for $42,840.

Committee discussed and recommended purchase of 4-ton Falcon Recycler & Hot Box Trailer from MPE (Midwest Paving Equipment, Inc.) in the amount of $36,304.00.

ELECTRIC

Committee discussed purchase of switchgear from Anixter Power Solutions/WESCO in the amount of $33,056.00 for Pohar Crossing.

LANDFILL

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported they are working to fill various sink holes to meet IEPA requirements.

AIRPORT

Alderman Lukosus reported hangar construction is underway. There are multiple new hangers being build in addition to the relocation of the City’s corporate hanger.

CEMETERY

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported spring cleanup went well and stated that anything worth saving was put behind fence. PSM/Fire Chief King stated items will be kept for a month then be thrown away.

PARKS & RECREATION

Committee discussed and approved placing IVCC and Pistol Shrimp banners on Plank Road.

CODE ENFORCEMENT/BUILDING & ZONING

None

ENGINEERING

Committee discussed and recommended purchase of a 2021 GMC Sierra from Jeff Perry for $51,979.24.

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning provided the following updates:

• Area 5 Phase 1 (7th Street)

o Water main underway

• NE Water Main

o Breaking into phases over two years

• General Fund Street Program (RBI/MFT funds)

o Finalizing contracts

• Wenzel Road Improvements

o Underground storm sewer underway

o Water main has been abandoned

• St. John’s Addition Phase 2

o Waiting on permitting

• IVRA Taxiway

o Coordination with contactor to accommodate TBM Avenger and Salute to Veterans Program

• Water Street Improvements

o Project to begin next week

Mr. Carls discussed final grass restoration punch list items on various projects.
