Swanson welcomes home veterans from their Honor Flight

In a May 24 Facebook post, Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Woodhull) highlighted an Honor Flight that day.

"Welcome Home Vietnam veterans on Honor Flight 53. Thank you to everyone who made this flight possible for our heroes," Halbrook posted.

According to its website, "The Honor Flight Network is a national network of independent Hubs working together to honor our nation’s veterans with an all-expenses paid trip to the memorials in Washington, D.C."

According to the Honor Flight Quad Cities website, an Honor Flight left Quad City International Airport at 7 a.m.  A welcoming ceremony/celebration was scheduled when the veterans returned at 10 p.m..

According to KWQC, Hy-Vee sponsored the flight.

The first Honor Flight of the year was in April. Ninety veterans participated, according to WQAD.

Any veteran that served during World War II, Korean War or Vietnam War is eligible to participate in an Honor Flight.
