City of Peru Public Services Committee met April 25.

CLOSED SESSION
Alderman Waldorf made a motion to go into closed session for meetings held to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus, Ballard and Edgcomb voting aye; motion carried.
Closed session began at 5:30 p.m. and ended at 5:45 p.m.

MINUTES
Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting minutes of April 11, 2022. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.

WATER & SEWER
Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve invoice from Superior Excavating in the amount of $18,190.00 for water valve replacement. Alderman Ballard seconded the motion. PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported this is due to an emergency repair. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus, Ballard and Edgcomb voting aye; motion carried.

STREETS & ALLEY
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported crews are filling potholes but only with a binder product that is being used isn’t the best product for good fix.
ELECTRIC
Alderman Lukosus made a motion to seek bids for 5-75’ class 1 wood utility poles. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion; motion carried.
Clerk Bartley reported on the sale of Renewable Energy Credits to STX Commodities, LLC as follows:
STX buys 9,131 July-December 2020 production at $1.00
STX buys 20,689 January-June 2021 production at $1.20
STX buys 29,300 July 2021-March 2022 production at $1.40
LANDFILL

AIRPORT
Alderman Lukosus reported taxiway extension is waiting on an official start date; likely to be after the airshow.
CEMETERY
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported spring cleanup went well and stated that anything worth saving was put behind fence. PSM/Fire Chief King stated items will be kept for a month then be thrown away.
PARKS & RECREATION
Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported on the ice rink grant. Mr. Thorson stated he is working to answer question with picture back to the state. Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported proposed an outside consult to assist in the long term planning.
CODE ENFORCEMENT/BUILDING & ZONING
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning commented on the Lutes petition for garage expansion and minutes for regular meeting.
ENGINEERING
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning provided the following updates:
• Area 5 Phase 1 (7th Street)
o Phase 1 is complete
o Phase 2 is underway
• General Fund Street Program (RBI/MFT funds)
o Contracts have been signed
• Wenzel Road Improvements
o ½ of the underground storm sewer is complete
o Drainageway nearly complete
• Water Street Improvements
o Project underway
• Safe Routes to School Grant
o Awarded
o Grant is from Parkside School to Sycamore Street

NEW BUSINESS
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning presented a communication from Tom Hill regarding ice and water vending machines. Mr. Carls reported there are no zoning restrictions. Corporate Counsel will research further.
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported the boat launch is currently closed due to high water and the mess left after it recedes takes weeks to dry and clean up. Questions or concerns should be directed to PSM/Chief King.
