Alderman Bacidore questioned the minutes on page 2 of the May 16TH Meeting. Alderman Bacidore asked about the yellow painted curb on McArthur Street. This was not approved at the last committee meeting. There was also not a work order placed for this job. Alderman asked if anyone was aware of this project.
Deputy Clerk Bader did not come across a work order approving this section of curbing to be painted. Bader thought that the painting of the curbs is usually part of Parks and Rec and usually summer work for the high school/college kids.
Alderman Bacidore stated he will bring this topic back up again during the City Council Meeting.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to approve and place on file the minutes of the Streets, Alleys, and Traffic Committee for May 16, 2022. Each and every alderman has a copy.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion is carried.
Resident of 1220 Third St. Spoke in regard to not wanting the sign in place. She feels that the resident of 1216 Third St. only wants the sign so he gets that parking space in front of his house. She has not seen a handicap placard or handicap plate. She also mentioned that he was just recently cutting his grass so it surprised her that he would need a handicap sign. She did mention how they have not got along the last 3-4 years since he has moved in there. He is always finding an issue to call the cops on her. She has been living in the same residence for the last 17 years. She was unaware of an easement that she had for the last 17 years, and it allows access to his property. She is now unable to park in the back of her property.
Deputy Bader stated that the petitioner mentioned in his June 6th email that he just received his placard. His neighbor still has not seen him using this placard.
Chairman Bacidore asked the committee if they would be up for tabling this issue until the resident can come down and state his reason for needing the placard. The committee agreed to table it for the next meeting in two weeks.
Moved by Alderman Crane and seconded by Alderman Lavieri to table this topic for the next committee meeting in two weeks.
Resident of 338 Tonti St, Dale Butkowitz, spoke how beneficial it would be to have a “Handicapped Parking” sign in front of his house. He does have a handicapped placard and his wife does have heart, medical issues.
