Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Supt. Of Public Works Patrick Watson, Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, City Engineer Brian Brown, Economic Development Director Leah Inman, City Attorney James McPhedran

A quorum was present.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to approve and place on file the minutes of the Finance Committee for July 25, 2022. Each and every alderman has a copy.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Alderman Bacidore began discussion in regard to installing four-way stop signs on Second Street at Marquette, Gooding, and Wright Street intersections. Bacidore checked with Chief Smudzinski about any wrecks occurring in the last six months. There were no wrecks recorded since Nov. 1st. Two weeks ago, the council approved for signs to go up at each of the intersections that state “Cross Traffic does not Stop”. Bacidore believes that the City should see how these current signs help these intersections.

Erin Maze, owner of a business on 1st Street, spoke in regard to why he would want to see the four-way stops on each of the intersections. He is most concerned for the cross traffic that one is unable to see. He believes that the on-street parking obscures the visibility of the oncoming traffic.

Alderman Lavieri stated that he does not agree with this request. The speed limit is only 20 and this would create too many stops.

David Wilcoxon, owner of the Medical Arts Building, does not believe that the four-way stops signs are efficient. He also believes that the current “Cross Traffic Does Not Stop” signs could be potentially confusing to old drivers.

This item failed due to lack of motion.

There were no more questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Ptak adjourned the meeting at 6:25 p.m.
