City of Ottawa Historic Preservation Commission met July 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Present: George Cary, Bob Eschbach, Chris Hasty, Earle Lecki, Lorraine McCallister Mollie Perrot Chuck Stanley, Tami Koppen (staff)

Absent: Paul Havelka

Public Comment. No comments

Minutes. Moved by Bob Eschbach that the minutes for OHPC meeting held on June 9, 2022, be approved. Second by Earle Lecki. All ayes. Motion passed.

Colonnade. Moved by Bob Eschbach that the city finds and install the lights. Second by Chuck Stanley. All ayes. Motion passed.

Brick Streets. No update.

State Historical Society Grant. Commission discussed Sara Gragg for the next marker. Application will be submitted now; costs are going up. Commission agreed to move forward.

New Commission Member. Commission discussed Rich Mennecke for a new member. Moved by Chuck Stanley that the OHPC recommend the City Council appoint Rich Mennecke to the commission. Second by Chris Hasty. All ayes. Motion passed.

Local Landmark Application - 602 Catherine Street. Incomplete application. Mollie noted people who lived in the home. Applicant will need to submit required information.

LaSalle County Courthouse Generator. George Cary noted that government buildings, federal funds and/or state funds may have requirements in the historic district. Committee has not changed stance on the generator.

New Business.

Commission discussed the need of an overall master plan for block containing the PADS Shelter, Scouting Museum, and restoration of the lateral canal. Projects are at a critical point, now is the time. Moved by Lorraine McCallister that the OHPC recommend that the City Council develop a master plan for this area and include all entities involved. Second by Chris Hasty. All ayes. Motion passed.
