Coach Mudra served as Leatherneck football coach from 1969-1973, compiling a 39-13 record as head coach. In 1969, Mudra led the Leathernecks to a conference title. His 1973 squad advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division II playoffs.
Known as 'Dr. Victory,' Coach Mudra was inducted into the Western Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990. Mudra had a career record of 207-88-4 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
"Coach Mudra had a profound impact on Leatherneck Football," former player Bob Nardelli said. "His creative and innovative development of our offense resulted in our National Ranking. His induction to the College Coaches Hall of Fame is proof position of his recognition. My deepest sympathy."
Coach Mudra also served as head coach at Adams State College, North Dakota State, Arizona, Florida State, Eastern Illinois and Northern Iowa. Mudra was also head coach of Montreal in the Canadian Football League.
