City of Ottawa Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Oct. 28.

Ken Brown called the meeting to order at 10:01 a.m.

Public Comment

None.

Minutes

Moved by Tim McTagaart second by Steve Malinky, to approve the minutes of the October 12, 2022 meeting as written. All ayes. Motion passed.

Police Patrolman Eligibility Register

The Board administered the written exam for police patrolman on October 11, 2022. Two candidates achieved a score of 70% or greater. Oral interviews were conducted October 22, 2022.

Moved by Steve Malinsky, second by Ken Brown to adopt the Initial and Final Police Patrolman Eligibility Register as shown below.

The candidates listed below have confirmed that neither are eligible for any preference points, therefore the ten day waiting period to submit preference points is deemed waived.

1. Brandon Kochurka 88.97

2. Nicholas Pagan 82.19

Police Hiring

The Board previously received a request from Commissioner Less to hire five (5) patrol officers. Two candidates were hired from the eligibility register dated August 15, 2022.

Moved by Steve Malinsky, second by Tim McTaggart to offer conditional employment to Brandon Kochurka and Nicholas Pagan. All ayes. Motion passed.

Police Testing Agency

Information was provided to the Board regarding Stanard & Associates police entry level exam. This exam is approved by the Illinois Chief Association. Stanard also offers an online/remote exam.

Moved by Steve Malinsky, second by Ken Brown to contract with Stanard & Associates for the upcoming police patrolman entry level exam. The exam will be offered online/remotely for this testing. Applications are to be submitted to the Board at City Hall. Exams will need to be completed online no later than November 22, 2022. Oral interviews are scheduled for December 2, 2022/
