The Western Illinois baseball program has released its 2023 baseball schedule. The Leathernecks will play a 55-game schedule hosting 17 games at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.
Western Illinois opens its season with a four-game series against the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana Feb. 17-20. The teams will play their series in Millington, TN.
The second-weekend action will keep WIU on the road as they head to Texas. The Leathernecks will square off with Texas Tech in a four-game series starting Feb 24-26.
WIU will travel back to their home state on March 3 as they will start a four-game series within state rival SIU-Edwardsville. After having three-weekend series to start the season, Western Illinois will have its first-midweek game on March 7 as they head to Columbia, MO, to take on the Tigers of Missouri. WIU will travel back to Tennessee to take on Belmont on March 10.
After opening the season on a 15-game road stand, Western Illinois will open up play on Alfred D. Boyer as they welcome McKendree on March 14. After a midweek home game, WIU heads back on the road. The Leathernecks head to Southeast Missouri State on March 17-19 and Southern Illinois on March 21.
The Leathernecks open Summit League play in St. Paul, MN, as they take on St. Thomas March 24-26. After three games in the Twin Cities, the Leathernecks travel to the Windy City for a mid-week battle with the University of Illinois-Chicago on March 28. The Leathernecks finish out the span of 11 road games with a three-game series against Oral Roberts from March 31-April 2
WIU returns home on April 5 to take on Illinois State before welcoming South Dakota State for its first home Summit League games on April 7-9.
The Leathernecks return to non-conference play on April 12, taking on Eastern Illinois in Charleston. Western Illinois will keep traveling east as they head to East Lansing to take on Michigan State April 14-16. WIU will wrap up the five non-conference games at home against SIU-Edwardsville on April 18. Western Illinois will stay home through the weekend as they host Northern Colorado on April 21-23.
WIU will hit the road for their next seven out of eight games. The Leathernecks will have a midweek game on April 25 against Saint Louis before heading to Fargo to battle North Dakota State on April 28-30. Western Illinois will return home on May 2 to take on OVC newcomer Lindenwood before heading to Omaha on May 5-7.
Western Illinois will wrap up its season with seven straight home games. The seven-game homestand starts with St. Thomas May 12-14 and welcomes Eastern Illinois on May 16 before finishing the regular season against Oral Roberts May 18-20.
The Summit League Tournament is held in Fargo, N.D., on May 24-27.
