City of Peru Public Services Committee met Nov. 7

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus, Ballard and Edgcomb present.

OTHER ALDERMEN PRESENT: Aldermen Payton, Sapienza, Buffo, Tieman

MINUTES

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting minutes of October 24, 2022. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.

STREETS & ALLEY

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported leaf vacuum trucks are out but with the Veteran’s Day holiday and offices closed, crews will be behind.

ELECTRIC

Committee discussed/recommended purchase of 2019 Ram 1500 from Coronet Dodge in the amount of $51,368.24. PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported the truck is an addition to the electric fleet to accommodate hydroelectric employee transportation.

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported on bids received for the Center Street Substation Upgrades Transformer Purchase and recommended awarding the bid to GE Prolec in the amount of $1,277,581.00. Carls reported they pricing options to extend the warranty period.

LANDFILL

None

AIRPORT

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported that weather and availability will impact paving around the new hangar and T Hangars.

CEMETERY

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported on the purchase of Model 623T Grasshopper Mower from Diller Rod Inc., in the amount of $13,950.00. King reported the team at the Cemetery researched equipment other cemetery’s use and then tested multiple options.

PARKS & RECREATION

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve quote from Sportsfields, Inc. in the amount of $13,450.00 for improvements to Veteran’s Park field. Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported the addition work is necessary due to the other improvement and alterations. Alderman Ballard seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus, Ballard and Edgcomb voting aye; motion carried.

Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events initiated a discussion regarding purchase of parks department truck (FY24 budget). Committee was in favor.

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning had no updates on engineering projects.

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King informed the committee of the Department of Labor inspection at the public works department. PSM/Fire Chief King reported the inspector was overall very pleased with the state of records. King reported he is working to provide the additional documentation required.

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Edgcomb seconded the motion; motion carried.
