A Western Illinois University Department of Theatre and Dance faculty member has been presented an award that recognizes work in the community and professional theatres in and around Indianapolis, IN.

Associate Professor Lysa Fox was presented the Most Impressive Direction of a Musical in the Professional Theatre Division for her work on Working – the Musical at the Actors Theatre of Indiana. The production was also recognized for set design and outstanding ensemble.

This is the 12th time the "Mittys," or Most Impressive Theatre Awards, have been presented.

"Director Lysa Fox can be proud of how the production plays out – full of dynamic and thoughtful moments which are compelling to watch," the nomination said. "It isn't rare to find shows that are well directed in our professional theatre community. The trick that makes them most impressive, to me at least, is if they are powerful and/or moving in a way that stays with you."

Fox said she had such a wonderful time with the Actors Theatre of Indiana, as well as with the cast and crew of the production, that this award is a "lovely icing on the cake."

"It's such a great feeling when something you felt was truly special actually resonates that way beyond just the people involved," said Fox. "I can't wait to go back and work with this exceptional theatre again."
