The city of Princeton makes a big new appointment within their police department.
"She is a certified Taser instructor into their instructor and will now become the first female sergeant in the department's history," Chief of Police Tom Kammerer said. "I'm very proud of Kendra's accomplishments thus far in her career, and I look forward to the energy she will bring to a new shift as a sergeant on midnights."
Kendra Bierbom joined the Princeton City police department almost 11 years ago in the spring of 2012. She was the department’s first female officer to be hired and has had a stellar record since. Chief Tom Kammerer presented her to the city council and appointed her to the rank of Sergeant to be sworn in as the department’s first female supervisor.
“Throughout her career with the department, she's been a bike patrol officer, field training officer, Taser instructor, and most recently the school resource officer for the elementary school district. Kendra holds a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University and has attended numerous training classes during her career with the Princeton Police Department “ Chief Kammerer said.
Kendra was sworn in by the council in front of her friends and family, including her grandmother and siblings. She thanked the department and the council for the opportunity, saying she had never planned on going up the ranks and just wanted to be a patrol officer, but when the position opened up she gave it a shot.
