City of Peru Public Services Committee met Dec. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Edgcomb present. Alderman Ballard absent. 

OTHER ALDERMEN PRESENT: Aldermen Payton, Sapienza, Buffo, Tieman

MINUTES

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting minutes of November 21 2022. Alderman Edgcomb seconded the motion; motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None

WATER & SEWER

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported there were five water main breaks over the weekend and noted the following:

• All breaks were blowouts; not pressure related

• Looking to upgrade with better technology hoping to better monitor the flow 

• One break repair was subcontracted

Mr. Chris Perra of TEST noted the PRV valve information needs to be monitored and going to add data loggers.

ELECTRIC

Committee discussed submitting hydro repairs and options for insurance reimbursements.

Committee discussed/recommended purchase of Hyster forklift from MH Equipment in the amount of $36,569.50

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to seek bids for (3) 2500 ft. reels of 1 aught AWG, 15 kV Okonite wire. Alderman Waldorf seconded the motion; motion carried.

Committee discussed/recommended quote for Hydro repairs from Thompson HCMS in the amount of $234,447.22.

Committee discussed/recommended quote from Normandy Machine Company in the amount of $12,500.00 for inspection of the Water St transformer/load tap changer.

Committee discussed/recommended quote for new green and white LED beacon from Airport Lighting Company in the amount of $11,160.02. Eric Carls, Director discussed the expense is part of a reimbursable expense tied to the corporate hangar relocation.

LANDFILL

None

AIRPORT

Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert reported he is working on leaseholds and updating pin numbers.

CEMETERY

None

PARKS & RECREATION

Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported there are 20 entries so far for the Let it Glow Holiday Lights and Decorating Contest.

CODE ENFORCEMENT/BUILDING & ZONING

None

ENGINEERING

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported Stott Contracting, LLC was the lowest bidder for the Peru MVP Subdivision bid opening in the amount of $1,847,161.50 and asked for recommendations on contracts. All were in favor by straw poll.

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported on the Rt. 6 water main (east city limits to West Street).

Mayor Kolowski recommended that Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning, Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert and Economic Development Director Bob Vickery attend the ICSC Conference in Las Vegas next year.
