Depue Unit School District 103 Board of Education met Dec. 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Board President, Jason Hayes called the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education to order at 6:03 p.m., December 14, 2022 in the school library.

Members Present at Roll Call: Marisela Cervantes, Jason Hayes, Jacob Hoffert, Cynthia Salazar Since four members are present, a quorum does exist. It is legal to conduct the business of the District.

Staff present: Dr. Brandi Anderson-Maier - Superintendent, Mrs. Tari Jansen- Pre-K- 5 Principal, Mrs. Vicki Gilbert - District Secretary.

Visitors: Mrs. Melissa Hill, Mr. Gabriel Larios, Mr. Chris Vaske, District Treasurer, and a several staff members via zoom video conference.

CONSENT AGENDA 

Motion by Hoffert, seconded by Cervantes to approve:

Approve regular and executive session minutes from November 2022 Board meeting Approve monthly bills

Approve additional bills

Approve the treasurer's report dated November 2022

Approve the balance sheet dated November 2022

Approve the destruction of closed session audio tapes after 18 months

RECOGNITION OF VISITORS 

There was no public comment or announcements.

ADMINSTRATION REPORTS 

Elementary Principal's Report

Mrs. Jansen discussed the following topics:

• Enrollment and attendance numbers for Pre-K - 5 grades.

• Attendance rates for K-5 parent-teacher conferences was 83%. Many teachers are rescheduling those who did not attend that evening.

• The musical field trip to Ottawa High School was enjoyed by all.

• December 20: 2nd quarter PBIS Celebration

• December 21- January 3: Winter Break

• January 4: Institute Day: CRASE training

• January 11: AR Celebration David McCreary Assembly: Bullying, Character Education, Adversity

• January 13: Pre-K Family Night

• January 16: No school Martin Luther King

JII/HS Principal's Report

Mrs. Bruner discussed the following topics:

• Attendance for junior high and high school students. 

• Attendance for parent/teacher conferences. 

• Final exams: December 19-20

Superintendent's Report

Dr. Anderson-Maier discussed the following topics:

District Treasurer, Chris Vaske, gave recommendation to invest $1 million in a FDIC insured cash account program with Heartland Bank.

Dr. Anderson-Maier presented the FY22 Tax Levy (payable in FY23) .

• All July 1 to current cash balances were reported and disclosed to the public . 

• Financial report 

Maintenance report: There is a rusted galvanized steel pipe and a water heater which needs to replaced.

• October 2022 PRESS policy updates

• ESSER II/III funds and HV AC/Electrical Project Discussions

• FY23 Return to Learn Plan (no changes)

• Required Board trainings

• Consolidated District plan and Title grants

• Updated Intergovernmental Agreement for ACC/SRA VTE

EXECUTIVE SESSION 

Motion by Hoffert, seconded by Cervantes, to enter into executive session at 6:38 p.m. to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, collective bargaining matters, student discipline cases, placement of students and other matters relating to individual students and personnel.

Motion by Hayes, seconded by Cervantes to come out of executive session at 7:59 p.m.

Approve the FY23 DePue Return to Learn plan.

Approve the FY22 Tax Levy (payable in FY23) and disclosure of cash balances. Motion by Cervantes, seconded by Hayes

Accept the resi2;Dations of Mike Blair as full-time custodian. Ben Atkinson as long-term substitute teacher. David Moreno as Assistant boys' soccer coach, and Amy Forristall as Athletic Director. Motion by Cervantes, seconded by Salazar

Approve employment of Lady Laura Mejia as full-time custodian, Grace Zuber and Linda Orr as lon2,-term substitutes for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school vear, and Karen Dunne as contracted Speech Pathologist for the remainder for the 2022-2023 school vear. Motion by Hoffert, seconded by Cervantes

Adopt the October 2022 PRESS Board policy updates.
