Dimmick Consolidated School District 175 Board of Education met Dec. 19.

Call to Order President Deb Black called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Roll Call Roll call showed members present: Josh Turigliatti, Michelle Rich, Deb Black, Laurie Ernat, Gina Mudge, Deb Herz and Heather Seghi.

Approval of Board Agenda Public Comment
Consent Agenda
Reports and Updates
Debbie Herz made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Heather Seghi seconded the motion. A voice indicated all yeas. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Congratulations to Teri Rossman for completing her doctorate.
On December 22, 2022, a group of business leaders are coming to Dimmick to hear about our Career Exploration Program that the district is working on in partnership with IVAC.
Laurie Ernat made a motion to approve the consent agenda. Michelle Rich seconded the motion. Roll call yeas: Ernat, Rich, Turigliatti, Seghi, Mudge, Herz and Black. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Tax Levy FY 2022 Mr. Linnig reported on the figures for the 2022 Tax Levy which had no changes recommended from the tentative levy presented at the November Board Meeting. Based on the estimated EAV from LaSalle and Bureau Counties, the tax rate is anticipated to be $1.44, a reduction of 5.2 cents from last year. The 2022 tax levy awaits approval.
2022 Assessment Complaints
District Facilities Report
Mr. Linnig reported on the receipt of two complaints filed with the LaSalle County Board of Review. Based on requested reductions the district would be impacted as follows:
• Hobby Lobby –loss of $4,400 for tax year 2022
• Target –loss of $3,000.00 for tax year 2022
IVCC has committed to partner with Dimmick once again and the County had expressed interest and we are awaiting verification.
• The solar power and generator proposal from Veregy Energy is expected to be ready in January.
• Larson and Darby are working on a plan for the playground work to be used in seeking proposals for the summer of 2023.
• The painting project is done except for the black mats for the gym.
• The gym lighting will be done later this week.
School Improvement Team Report
Teri Rossman reported on the School Improvement Team meeting: • The reading committee is coming up with ideas to get students more involved in the 20 minute a night reading program.
• The Parent/Teacher conferences went well. K-4 grades had 100% parental participation and the 5-8 grades had 93%.
• The Parent/Teacher conference survey was shared with the board.
2022 Joint Annual Conference
The board members shared what they learned from the conference. Areas discussed included board communication, board and superintendent relations/communication, engaging with legislators, legislative updates 2022-23, and opt-out areas of curriculum mandates for parents.
Concussion Protocol Team
The concussion protocol team will include Mr. Linnig, Dr. Rossman, and Mr. Arteaga as Athletic Director (Except when serving as coach). Action on the appointment awaits approval.

Other
• Mrs. Knauf was mentioned for her ideas and work on theme days for the 12 days before Christmas break. The students and staff were excited and participating has been strong. In addition, they collected about 335 pounds of food for the Illinois Valley Food Pantry. The Student Council in partnership with the PTO collected items for the veteran’s home.
• The district will have a Christmas Dinner on 12/21 at the Uptown Grill.
• Mr. Linnig shared information on the idea of a 1 cent county-wide sales tax.
• A reminder to help support the Dimmick PTO in the Celebration of Lights fundraiser on December 27 from 5-9 p.m.
Action Items
Approval of the 2022 Tax Levy

Approval of the Resolution to Regulate Expense Reimbursements
Heather Seghi made a motion to approve the resolution to regulate expense reimbursements. Debbie Herz seconded the motion. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Approval of the Concussion Protocol Team Appointments
Debbie Herz made the motion to approve the concussion protocol team appointments as discussed. Heather Seghi seconded the motion. Roll call yeas: Herz, Seghi, Mudge, Turigliatti, Rich, Ernat and Black. Nays: None. Motion carried.
