Village of Ladd Village Board met Jan. 27

Village of Ladd Village Board met Jan. 27

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Ladd Village Board met in Special Session at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023, in the Village Hall. Village President Frank Cattani called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag.

Roll Call: Present – Trustees Dave Margherio, Jan Martin, Molly Thrasher, and Mike Urbanowski (4).

Absent – Trustee Jim Manning, and Dan Nelson (2)

In attendance – Clerk Rhonda Bezely

Public Comment: Jim Robbins, one of the owners of the Players Club Gaming LLC introduced himself and told the board about his partners. He spoke with the board regarding some concerns. He would like to place tables and chairs out on the concrete in front of the building off route 89. He was also wanting to have an awning installed and wondered what the setback would be. The board felt that if he stayed in line with the other businesses on Main Avenue and didn’t protrude out any more than they are he would be okay. He also wondered if there was any barrier that could be placed on that corner (Route 89 & W Cleveland) since there isn’t any curb or gutter. They would like to stripe parking spots and this would protect anyone parked or sitting in the concrete area. We will reach out to our attorney and engineer with these questions. We will be in touch or put the attorney and engineer in touch with Jim Robbins.

New Business: Approve Liquor License for Players Club Gaming LLC:

Martin motioned/Thrasher second to approve the Liquor License for Players Club Gaming LLC for February-July 2023.

Ayes: Margherio, Martin, Thrasher, Urbanowski (4-0)

Announcements: Bezely updated the council on Player Club Gaming's plans for the garage.

Robbins asked if an apartment can be made in the garage. He was told that it must be occupied by the manager or business owner. They spoke with Superintendent Englehaupt and need an electric upgrade. Application fee of $250.00 and they will also need a 1” water tap & ¾” meter of $560.00 to put a bathroom in the garage/additional business area they are interested in creating. In the past, the board has waived these fees for a new business. The council agreed they would like to waive the fees in appreciation of the business locating in Ladd. If it is decided to move the gaming parlor to the garage Robbins asked if they could make the front area an apartment. Robbins was told no – the front of the building must remain a business. Robbins and his partners are considering many options.

Margherio motioned – Urbanowski Second to adjourn.

Ayes: Margherio, Martin, Thrasher, Urbanowski (4-0)

The meeting adjourned at 5:13 pm.
