Q1 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Bureau County convicted of drug crimes set for release

There were two offenders convicted of drug crimes living in Bureau County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Illinois Valley Times.

The data shows a man and a woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes was 40. The younger parolee was a 37-year-old man sentenced in 2020, and the oldest was a 42-year-old woman sentenced in 2020.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was James S. Cushman. He was convicted in 2020 when he was 34 years old. He is now 37.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of drug crimes were paroled during the first quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
