Q1 2022 Recap: 2 parolees from Lasalle County convicted of crimes against justice set for release

There were two offenders convicted of crimes against justice living in Lasalle County released on parole during the first quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Illinois Valley Times.

The data shows both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes against justice was 30. The younger parolee was a 29-year-old man sentenced in 2013, and the oldest was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2021.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Robert J. Gula. He was convicted in 2013 when he was 20 years old. He is now 29.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The following table shows how many offenders convicted of crimes against justice were paroled during the first quarter of 2022 in each Illinois county.
