City of Ottawa Historic Preservation Commission met Feb. 9.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Present: Bob Eschbach, Chris Hasty, Lorraine McCallister, Rich Mennecke Mollie Perrot, Tami Koppen (staff)

Absent: George Cary, Earle Lecki, Paul Havelka, Chuck Stanley

Public Comment. No comments

Minutes. Moved by Lorraine McCallister that the minutes for OHPC meeting held on January 19, 2023 be approved. Second by Bob Eschbach. All ayes. Motion passed.

Colonnade. No report

Brick Streets. No report

State Historical Society Grant. No report

Jordan Block Sign. Mollie presented revised text to commission members. Commission discussed; Molly will revise.

Mark Twain Sign. Lorraine presented text to commission members. Commission discussed; Lorraine will revise.

Local Landmark Ordinance. At last month’s meeting Chuck discussed adding an additional designation category, i.e. Heritage Homes to the ordinance. Commission also discussed amending current ordinance to include exterior notation. Will discuss next month.

Old Business. None

New Business.

CLG Grants. Tami reported grants will be release March 1st, due on March 31st. Commission discussed applying for historic survey of the South Bluff. This area would include all of Prospect and Van Buren.

Moved by Mollie Perrot that a CLG grant application is prepared for the South Bluff. Second by Rich Mennecke. All ayes. Motion passed.
