City of Peru Public Services Committee met March 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Edgcomb present. Alderman Ballard absent

OTHER ALDERMEN PRESENT: Aldermen Sapienza, Payton and Tieman

MINUTES

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting minutes of February 27, 2023. Alderman Edgcomb seconded the motion; motion carried.

ELECTRIC

Electric Department Operations Manager reported on a meeting discussing hydro operations with Rick Scheri and Eric Maggio with the City of Rock Falls.

CEMETERY

PSM/Fire Chief King reported cemetery clean-up went well and extra materials were placed behind the mausoleum fence.

PARKS & RECREATION

Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events inquired about AED’s for Washington Park, Veteran’s Park and McKinley Park. Peru Little League requested the City reimburse them for the purchase. Chief Raymond interjected and recommend the parks have AED’s of the same brand as the other City owned AED’s. Chief Raymond noted Officer Credi handles the maintenance and inspection of all AED’s and if the parks all add them he would add to his list. The Committee asked Adam to request the Little League return their AED of a different manufacturer.

Committee discussed condition of Wiggly Field and potential rehab.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Lukosus initiated a discussion regarding vactor truck lease and the leaf truck purchase. Alderman Lukosus asked about maintenance costs for the current unit which is approximately 8 years old. PSM/Fire Chief King requested complete maintenance history and further evaluation. PSM/Fire Chief King explained his goal to keep up the equipment and current trade in is $140,000.

CLOSED SESSION

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to go into closed session to discuss the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body is being considered, including meetings held for the purpose of discussion whether a particular parcel should be acquired, or where the public body is considering the setting of a price for sale or lease of its property and meetings to consider security procedures and the use of personnel and equipment to respond to an actual, a threatened, or a reasonably potential danger to the safety of employees, students, staff, the public or public property. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Edgcomb voting aye; Alderman Ballard absent; motion carried.

Closed session began at 5:55 p.m. and ended at 6:17 p.m.

Alderman Waldorf made a motion to reopen the meeting. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Waldorf, Lukosus and Edgcomb present; Alderman Ballard absent.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Edgcomb made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion; motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 6:19 P.M.
