City of LaSalle Finance Committee met May 1

Chairman Ptak Called the Meeting to order at 6:00pm
ROLL CALL
Present: Chairman Ptak, Aldermen Thompson, Lavieri, Jeppson
Excused Absence: Alderman Herndon
Others Present: Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Alderman Reynolds, Alderman Crane, Alderman Bacidore, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, City Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, City Engineer Brian Brown (arrived at 6:04pm), City Building Inspector Andy Bacidore (6:05pm)
A quorum was present.
Moved by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to approve the minutes from April 17, 2023.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Moved by Alderman Thompson and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to approve the request for a monetary donation of $250 to the Better Fishing Association for the Kid’s Free Fishing Tournament.

MOTION CARRIED: 3-0
Chairman Ptak mentioned that the last time that they gave the Small Business Development Center a donation was in 2015 for $500. They are asking currently for a $3000 donation. Alderman Thomspon asked if they pay for salaries and benefits through this organization. Curt Bedei mentioned that she gets paid through the state, through the Small Business Association. He mentioned that this is how she provides free consultation. Deputy Clerk Bader believes that they may get a portion of their finances from the state and another portion comes from donations. Alderman Thompson asked for this Association to come back to a finance meeting in two weeks to discuss with the committee what their donations are used for.
Chairman Ptak asked to table to request for a monetary donation to the Illinois Small Business Development Center until the committee gets further understanding of what the donation will be used for.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
