City of LaSalle Street, Alleys and Traffic Committee met June 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Bacidore Called the Meeting to order at 6:09pm

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Bacidore, Aldermen Reynolds, Jeppson, Crane

Excused Absence: Alderman Ptak, Lavieri, Herndon

Others Present: Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, City Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, City Building Inspector Andy Bacidore, City Attorney James McPhedran, Alderman Thompson

A quorum was present.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Crane to approve the minutes from June 12, 2023.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Alderman Crane mentioned the ordinance that Attorney McPhedran shared with all the Alderman in regard to the removal/discontinuance of truck route on Porter Ave. He mentioned that the city received many emails supporting this ordinance.

Alderman Thompson asked Chairman Bacidore to ask the audience if anyone was in favor of keeping the truck route. No response from the audience.

Moved by Alderman Crane and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to favorably consider the ordinance in the council’s packet and approve the request regarding removal/discontinuance of truck route/traffic on Porter Avenue, LaSalle.

ROLL CALL

AYE: Chairman Bacidore, Reynolds, Jeppson, Crane

NAY: None Absent: Alderman Ptak, Lavieri, Herndon Abstain: None

MOTION CARRIED: 4-0

There were approximately 12 residents in audience that were in favor of the ordinance that was recommended by the Streets, Alleys, and Traffic Committee. Attorney McPhedran also noted that this meeting was well published and Carus was provided a copy of the notice to come and provide input if they wished to. Carus informed Alderman Thompson and Alderman Crane that they were closing that warehouse and they did not object to what the committee voted on. McPhedran stated that Carus had indicated to numerous news media, News Tribune, Starved Rock Media, WGLC, and WCMY, that they were discontinuing the use of the warehouse, North of Porter Ave. and East on Zinc St. This information came from VP Operations, Allen Gibbs.

One Resident did ask when this ordinance when it will go into effect. The committee stated that they agreed with Carus on July 8th. Carus asked the city for a little time to get all their equipment out. Attorney McPhedran stated that the draft ordinance that the committee is recommending to the council and are considering favorably has it indicated as July 8th

There were no more questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Jeppson and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Bacidore adjourned the meeting at 6:14pm
