City of LaSalle Finance Committee met July 10

Excused Absence: Alderman Lavieri
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to allow Alderman Lavieri to attend meeting remotely.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, Director of Public Works Patrick Watson, Fire Chief Jerry Janick, City Engineer Brian Brown, City Building Inspector Andy Bacidore
A quorum was present.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Thompson to approve the minutes from June 5, 2023.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Thompson to approve the minutes from June 26, 2023.
Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
Chairman Ptak began the discussion in regards to the bid awards for 2023 New Public Works Facility projects. Tieman Builders bid came in considerably lower than Vissering's. Tieman’s bid came in at $182,450 and Vissering’s was at $374,280. The city’s plan for this building is to start with ceiling, insulation, lighting, and radiant heaters. Patrick Watson stated that as long as all the project goes well the city will be able to be in the building by February.
Moved by Alderman Crane and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to accpet the bid from Tieman Builders for $182,450 for the 2023 New Public Works Facility project.

MOTION CARRIED: 8-0
Alderman Jeppson asked a question on the bills in regards to two vehicle charges, $35,079.18, under unpaid invoices for Bonnell Industries. Patrick Watson explained those charges to be for two truck beds.
Alderman asked about a bill under water department for $129,000. Finance Director Duncan described it as the parts for the MIU/MTU program. Duncan estimates about 25% or 1,000 water meters to be a full replace.
Finance Director Duncan mentioned that the council will be approving the appropriations at tonight’s city council meeting.
There were no more questions or comments from the public.
Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Thompson to adjourn the meeting.
