City of Peru Public Services Committee met Aug. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Edgcomb, Payton, Tieman and O’Sadnick present.

MINUTES

Alderman Payton made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting Minutes of July 10, 2023.

Alderman O’Sadnick seconded the motion; motion carried.

POLICE

Police Chief Sarah Raymond initiated a discussion regarding the need for full-time evidence position. Chief Raymond stated that based on market research, the pay rate would be $28.00 per hour. Committee discussed full and part-time options.

PARKS & RECREATION

Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported on the Taste of the Illinois Valley event and stated he is working on financials with bookkeeping. Alderman Sapienza complimented the event including the free entertainment and fun zone. Alderman Sapienza urged promoting the annual event area wide.

Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported Renee French of LaSalle was the 50/50 winner and took home $4,431.00.

Alderman Payton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Tieman seconded the motion; motion carried.
