City of Peru Public Services Committee met Aug. 21.

Alderman Tieman made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting Minutes of August 7, 2023. Alderman O’Sadnick seconded the motion; motion carried.

FIRE
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King initiated a discussion regarding traffic on Sycamore Street and recommended placing a stop sign at 14th Street. The committee discussed speed bump options and agreed to place a stop sign for northbound and southbound traffic at the intersection of Sycamore Street and 14th Street.
PSM/Fire Chief King reported on a meeting with FEMA and the lack of communication on the results of grant writing effort. PSM/Fire Chief King reported that FEMA reported they are busy.
LANDFILL

CEMETERY
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported the compressor motor at the mausoleum has failed.
PSM/Fire Chief King reported on a new mower with trade in with a Mendota dealer.
PARKS & RECREATION
Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported the Saturday concert at Centennial Park was a success.
Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported on the first weekend of soccer at Veteran’s Park was a success and special handicap parking was set up.
Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported the last Music Under the Oaks is Saturday, September 16th.
