City of Peru Public Services Committee met Sept. 18.

PLACE OF MEETING: Peru Municipal Building 1901 4th Street, Peru, IL 61354

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Edgcomb, Tieman and O’Sadnick present. Alderman Payton absent.

MINUTES

Alderman Tieman made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting Minutes of September 5, 2023. Alderman O’Sadnick seconded the motion; motion carried.

CODE ENFORCEMENT

Police Chief Sarah Raymond reported Community Service Officer (CSO) Blake Frund is proactively scanning the city to identify potential violations.

POLICE

Alderman Tieman made a motion to approve seeking applicants for the position of School Resource Officer. Alderman O’Sadnick seconded the motion; motion carried.

Police Chief Sarah Raymond announced the retirement of K9 Saxon and discussed the next plans for the program.

Alderman Edgcomb initiated a discussion regarding lateral transfers for potential new hires and potential incentives. Chief Raymond stated there is ongoing research.

Alderman Edgcomb asked to find other ways to communicate better on event cancellations and time changes.
