City of Peru Public Works Committee met Oct. 30.

ROLL CALL: Chairman, Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno present. Also present: Aldermen Payton, Tieman, Edgcomb, O’Sadnick and Mayor Kolowski

MINUTES

Alderman Sapienza made a motion to approve the Public Works Committee Minutes of October 2, 2023. Alderman Ballard seconded the motion; motion carried.

IT REPORT

WATER & SEWER

None

T.E.S.T.

Chris Perra of T.E.S.T. reported the IEPA inspection went well and there will be a follow up review at a future Public Works meeting.

AIRPORT

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported on discussions held at the annual IDOT Division of Aeronautics TIPs meeting:

• T-Hangar Re-Pavement

• 735 Crosswind Pavement Rehab

• Old ALP (Airport Layout Plan) an update needs to be prioritized.

o $250-$400 estimated cost to update

Mr. Carls also discussed drainage issues and the replacement of underground fuel storage.

BUILDING & GROUNDS

STREETS & ALLEY

ELECTRIC

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported he is working to access IMEA lighting funds to replace the Sunset Park lights; $90,800 in funds have been approved.

ENGINEERING

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported on the following projects: 

• GAF

o Road nearing the pavement process.

• NE Water Main Project

o Near completion.

• East Baker Lake Parking Lot

o Renovation is underway.

• Rt. 6 Water Main Project

o IDOT review nearly complete.

Rt. 6 Water Main Project-Alderman Edgcomb asked about business access. Mr. Carls reported they focus on communication with the business owners and accommodate the best we can.

CLOSED SESSION

Alderman Lukosus made a motion to go into closed session to discuss the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body is considered, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired and to discuss setting of the price for sale or lease of real estate owned by the public body is being considered. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno voting aye; motion carried.

Closed session began at 3:44 p.m. and ended 4:10 p.m.

Alderman Moreno made a motion to reopen the meeting. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno present.

Alderman Moreno made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 4:11 p.m.
