City of Peru Public Services Committee met Nov. 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Edgcomb, Payton, Tieman and O’Sadnick present. Also present, Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza and Ballard. Alderman Moreno absent. Mayor Kolowski present.

MINUTES

Alderman Payton made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting Minutes of October 30, 2023. Alderman Tieman seconded the motion; motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT

None

CODE ENFORCEMENT

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported on addressing property maintenance violations and not currently having a building inspector. Mr. Carls stated his office is working alongside CSO Blake Frund and addressing violations. Mr. Carls reported on the procedural steps taken when notifying property owners of a violation:

1. Certified letter

2. Citation

3. Refer violation to corporate counsel for possible legal action.

Alderman Edgcomb commended Mr. Carls and his office for their efforts. Mr. Carls reported his office is looking for workflow with CSO Frund and the admin staff. Mr. Carls stated CSO Frund uses a CAD system for logging violations but is a system his admin staff does not have access to. Alderman Lukosus asked that CSO Frund attend a committee meeting to review progress.

POLICE

Alderman Edgcomb reported the Blue and Red Christmas program is underway with 33 families; 85 children receiving gifts.

FIRE

None

LANDFILL

None

CEMETERY

PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported cemetery cleanup is complete.

Mayor Kolowski reported the fence is complete and City Clerk Dave Bartley is working on a plaque for Copeland.

PARKS & RECREATION

None

OLD BUSINESS

Alderman Edgcomb asked if the city had received the report back from IDOT regarding the bridge. Mr. Carls reported it is a very slow process and has not received a response yet.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Payton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman O’Sadnick seconded the motion; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 4:27 p.m.
