City of Peru Public Services Committee met Jan. 8.

DATE OF MEETING: Monday, January 8, 2024 TIME: 4:41 PM

PLACE OF MEETING: Peru Municipal Building 1901 4th Street, Peru, IL 61354

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Edgcomb, Tieman and O’Sadnick present. Alderman Payton absent. Also present, Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza, Ballard and Moreno. Mayor Kolowski present.

MINUTES

Alderman Edgcomb made a motion to approve the Public Services Meeting Minutes of December 11, 2023. Alderman Tieman seconded the motion; motion carried.

CODE ENFORCEMENT

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported he will be reviewing non-compliant businesses with vinyl signage.

PARKS & RECREATION

Adam Thorson, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events reported on complaints received about dogs at Veteran’s Park particularly about dog waste. Mr. Thorson stated he will collaborate with Police Chief Sarah Raymond to possibly at a park check.

Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning along with Mr. Thorson reported awards for the OSLAD Grant and tourism grant could be announced by the end of January.

Committee discussed the future of chillers at the ice rink.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman O’Sadnick initiated a discussion regarding unscheduled bus policy ordinance. Alderman O’Sadnick stated his concerns are from a humanitarian perspective. Corporate Counsel Scott Schweickert reported that he is communicating with area municipal attorneys on a policy.

Mayor Kolowski reported he spoke with AJ Querciagrossa of OSF Health and the new OBGYN clinic is opening tomorrow in the offices located across from the former St. Margaret’s Health hospital in Peru.

Alderman Edgcomb made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Alderman O’Sadnick seconded the motion; motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
