Police Chief Mike Smudzinski discussed the Dodge Ram that he is looking to purchase.

He currently has two squads that are trucks and this one that he is looking to trade out has 110,000 miles on it. He would like to continue to keep two trucks within the fleet.

Chief will purchase the new truck out of the drug fund. Chief plans on stripping the current truck down and giving that one to the City once he has purchased the new truck.

Smudzinski also mentioned that he did put two in the budget but will be purchasing this one out of the drug fund. This was a state bid so there is no need to find multiple bidders. The sticker price is $53,515, but the city will be purchasing it for $39,017. This truck also comes with a 5-year, 60,000-mile powertrain. The department plans on transferring as much equipment as they can. There were some lights and wiring that rusted out, but there will be minimal work. Chief Smudzinksi also found a new guy who travels to work on updating new squads. He will only need two days in the city garage to do the work to get the squad ready, when before it took about a month to flip a vehicle. Smudzinski discussed with the dealer that the truck will be ready for purchase and pickup as soon as this were to get approved.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Bacidore to accept the recommendation regarding the purchase of a 2023 RAM 1500 Classic for $39,017.00 for the police department.
