City of Peru Public Works Committee met Jan. 22.

ROLL CALL: Chairman, Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza and Moreno present. Alderman Ballard absent. Also present: Aldermen Payton, Tieman, Edgcomb, O’Sadnick and Mayor Kolowski.
MINUTES
Alderman Sapienza made a motion to approve the Public Works Committee Minutes of January 8, 2024. Alderman Moreno seconded the motion; motion carried.

IT REPORT
Alderman Lukosus made a motion to seek applicants for Full-Time IT position. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion and noted the need exists. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza and Moreno voting aye; Alderman Ballard absent; motion carried.
WATER & SEWER
PSM/Fire Chief Jeff King reported the extreme cold has brought on multiple water main breaks.
T.E.S.T.
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported he is working alongside Chris Perra of T.E.S.T. and Chamlin and Associates to discuss capital projects.
AIRPORT
Eric Carls, Director of Engineering and Zoning reported he is working on renewing consulting agreement with Chamlin and Associates and IDOT Division of Aeronautics.

ELECTRIC
Alderman Lukosus made a motion to authorize seeking internal candidates for the position of Electric Department Crew Foreman. Alderman Moreno seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza and Moreno voting aye; Alderman Ballard absent; motion carried.
Alderman Moreno made a motion to authorize seeking internal candidates for the position of Electric Department Foreman of Maintenance & Generation. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Alderman Moreno made a motion to authorize seeking candidates for the position of Electric Department Maintenance Mechanic, Computer Relay Technician. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Alderman Lukosus made a motion to go into closed session to discuss the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body is considered, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired. Alderman Moreno seconded the motion.
Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Lukosus, Sapienza and Moreno voting aye; Alderman Ballard absent; motion carried.
Closed session began at 3:50 p.m.; ended at 4:30 p.m.
Alderman Moreno made a motion to re-open the meeting. Alderman Lukosus seconded the motion.
