Authorize Police Hiring

The board received a letter from Commissioner Ganiere to hire a police officer to replace Devin Lang. The letter is dated March 18, 2024, and, in the letter, the Commissioner states that Mr. Lang was dismissed by the Department on March 18, 2024.

The board wants to make it clear for the record that the letter was received from Commissioner Ganiere prior to Mr. Lang submitting his resignation letter, which then was accepted at the special meeting held March 19, 2024.

Mr. Lang was not dismissed by the board; the board accepted his resignation letter, which created a vacancy in the Police Department.

Moved by Steve Malinsky, seconded by Ken Brown to make a conditional offer of employment to the next eligible candidates until a candidate has accepted the conditional offer. All ayes. Motion passed.
