City of Peru Finance Committee met May 13
Here are the minutes provided by the committee:
ROLL CALL: Aldermen Payton, Sapienza, and Tieman present. Alderman Ballard absent. Also present, present; Aldermen Lukosus, Edgcomb, and Moreno present. Alderman O’Sadnick absent. Mayor Kolowski present.
MINUTES
Alderman Tieman made a motion to approve the Finance Committee Minutes of April 15, 2024, and April 29, 2024. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion; motion carried.

HUMAN RESOURCES
Human Resources Director Kim Reese reported on the following revisions to the employee handbook:
• Addition of aunt, uncle, niece and nephew into the bereavement policy.
• Addition of Martin Luthur King Jr. Day holiday
• Addition of paid parental leave (subject to FOP contract)
OLD BUSINESS
Economic Development Bob Vickrey reported he has a meeting scheduled at the ICSC trade show in Las Vegas with people relating to the Sears building sale.
NEW BUSINESS
Alderman Sapienza initiated a discussion regarding this years tree program (parks).
Mayor Kolowski asked about the tree treatments and results. Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events, Adam Thorson to contact Shearer Tree Service for an update.

CLOSED SESSION
Alderman Payton made a motion to go into closed session to discuss the purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body is considered, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired and meetings where setting of the price for sale or lease of real estate owned by the public body is being considered. Alderman Sapienza seconded the motion. Clerk Bartley called the roll with Aldermen Payton, Sapienza, and Tieman voting aye; Alderman Ballard absent; motion carried.
Closed session began at 4:33 p.m. and ended at 5:07 p.m.
Alderman Payton made a motion to reopen the meeting. Alderman Tieman seconded the motion. Clerk Bartely called the roll with Aldermen Payton, Sapienza, Ballard and Tieman present.
ADJOURNMENT
Alderman Sapienza made a motion to adjourn. Alderman Tieman seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m.
