City of Marseilles City Council met Aug. 7

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Marseilles met in the City Chamber of City Hall at the hour of 6:00 P.M. on August 7, 2024.

Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Hollenbeck, Commissioner Kaminski, Small, and Buckingham. Absent: Commissioner Scheib.

Moved by Commissioner Kaminski seconded by Commissioner Buckingham that the minutes from the Council meeting of July 17, 2024 be approved as displayed and placed on file. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

No public comments made.

Moved by Commissioner Kaminski seconded by Commissioner Small that the accounts payable for the last half of July in the amount of $132,649.58 be approved and a warrant be drawn on the City Treasury for the said amount. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Moved by Commissioner Kaminski seconded by Commissioner Buckingham that the payroll for the last half of July in the amount of $81,819.12 be approved and a warrant be drawn on the City Treasury for said amount. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Moved by Commissioner Kaminski seconded by Commissioner Small that the financial audit for fiscal year 2023-2024 be approved. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small,

Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Commissioner Kaminski said at the last Middle East Tribute Board Meeting they updated their bylaws. All board members voted to maintain the museum.

Moved by Commissioner Kaminski seconded by Commissioner Small that the payment to Phalen Steel in the amount of $90,053.00 for 200 Riverfront Drive city hall police department remodel be approved. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Commissioner Small asked residents to keep grass clippings out of the streets. Also, thanked the police officers for their help and hard work for National Night Out.

Commissioner Buckingham said the public pool will close August 7 for the season. The glass case in City Hall will be moved to the police department.

Marseilles Lions Club members Jodeen Peek and Jim Hanlon presented Mayor Hollenbeck with a $7,000 check. The funds are to be used for the new Broadway Park shelter. Mayor read the annual United Way proclamation.

Moved by Mayor Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Small to reappoint Dee Crawshaw, Janice Brozovich, and Jerri Brown to the Library Board be approved. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Moved by Mayor Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Kaminski that Resolution 2024-18, a resolution authorizing Mayor to sign amended annexation agreement with Immanuel Lutheran Church of Marseilles and Pleasant View Lutheran Home, INC. be adopted. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Moved by Mayor Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Kaminski that Ordinance 1871, an ordinance authorizing a building setback variance and conditional use for metal building materials and pole barn type construction for 515 Illinois Street in Marseilles be adopted. Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Moved by Mayor Hollenbeck seconded by Commissioner Kaminski that Ordinance 1872, an ordinance establishing a city façade improvement program be adopted. Ayes:

Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.

Moved by Small seconded by Commissioner Kaminski that the City Council adjourns Ayes: Commissioner Kaminski, Small, Buckingham, and Mayor Hollenbeck. Nays: None.
