City of Ottawa Historic Preservation Commission met Aug. 15

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Present: Bob Eschbach, Chris Hasty, Paul Havelka, Earle Lecki, Lorraine McCallister, Rich Mennecke, Mollie Perrot, Tami Koppen (staff)

Absent: George Cary, Chuck Stanley

Public Comment. No comments

Minutes. Moved by Lorraine McCallister that the minutes for OHPC meeting held on July 11, 2024 be approved.

Second by Paul Havelka. All ayes. Motion passed.

Ernest Hemingway sign. Arnie, Chuck and Tami met onsite and determined the final location.

South Bluff. Mollie reported that Lara came to town Monday. She’s concerned with Van Buren, not a lot of historical information. Starting survey in 2 to 3 weeks

Round Horse Fountain. Bob suggested relocating to Court Street sidewalk. Rich will work on the fountain if it can be moved into a building.

Promoting/Educating Historic Preservation Resources. Commission briefly discussed, agreed to focus on downtown.

Meeting adjourned.
