City of LaSalle Finance Committee met Sept. 3

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Ptak called the Meeting to order at 6:00 pm

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Ptak, Alderman Bacidore, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson, Herndon, Crane

Excused Absence: Alderman Thompson

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, Director of Public Works Kevin Fay, City Engineer Brian Brown, City Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, Fire Chief Jerry Janick

A quorum was present.

Deputy Clerk Brent Bader reminded all to speak clearly into the mics for the video and audio recordings.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Herndon to approve the minutes from August 19, 2024.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Alderman Herndon and Chairman Ptak both agreed that the city made the right decision to go with the electric and utility for the eight-month period and that nine other communities were involved with this group rate.

Chairman Ptak asked for an update on Route 6 progress, even though it is not necessarily Finance related. City Engineer Brian Brown stated that he does not have accurate report from either contractor groups on what is to be done. He did indicate good progress on the curb and gutter work. Engineer Brown stated that there is a goal of completing pavement markings before the year’s end. They do plan on milling everything at once when they have the milling machine in town when the Richard Hallett and Eighth Street project begins.

The discrepancy at Crosat and Fifth was clarified, attributing it to a sewer inlet that does meet current standards. 

No more questions on the bills.

There were no questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Crane to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Ptak adjourned the meeting at 6:04 p.m.
