Fire Chief Jerry Janick began the discussion in regard to the purchase and installation of a $16,334 door security system for the La Salle Fire Department, which is identical to the system at city hall. The system will use key fobs and a keypad for enhanced security.

Alderman Thompson also addressed the concern of former employees having access to the buildings. Chief Janick confirmed that this system can track entries from the fobs, set times for fobs to be in use or not, and they are also able to deactivate any fob if need be.

Moved by Alderman Lavieri and seconded by Alderman Jeppson to approve the purchase and installation of a $16,334 door security system for the LaSalle Fire Department from Seico, Inc.

NEW BUSINESS

Chairman Ptak asked City Engineer Brian Brown to discuss with the committee the possibility of expanding the pickleball courts at Rotary Park from four to six courts.

Brown stated that it would be best to do the six now rather than later. The city would be spending more later if the expansion was not done now when the four courts were already being installed.

The committee considered expanding Pickleball courts at Rotary Park from four to six courts, with an additional cost of $58,000. It would be substantially more, however, if this expansion was done later. The expansion cost does include lighting and infrastructure adjustments. The expansion cost would be around $230,000, versus the original $171,000 cost, with a good portion of the funding from a grant from the High Line Improvements.

There were no questions or comments from the public.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Thompson to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Ptak adjourned the meeting at 6:18 p.m.
