City of LaSalle Street, Alleys and Traffic Committee met Sept. 30

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Bacidore called the Meeting to order at 6:16 pm

ROLL CALL

Present: Chairman Bacidore, Ptak, Reynolds, Lavieri, Jeppson, Herndon, Crane

Absent: None

Others Present: Deputy Clerk Brent Bader, Finance Director John Duncan, Economic Development Director Curt Bedei, City Attorney Jim McPhedran, City Engineer Brian Brown, City Treasurer Virginia Kochanowski, Alderman Thompson

A quorum was present.

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Ptak to approve and place on file the minutes of the Streets, Alleys and Traffic Committee for September 16, 2024.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Bacidore mentioned that he had spoke with Chief Smudzinski to see if there were any issues in the past at this intersection. Chief told Bacidore that he does not recall any issues. City Engineer Brown stated that there is not enough traffic around this intersection to even do a warrant analysis for signage. It was discussed that a stop sign at the T intersection could be beneficial due to a school nearby, but doubts were made for the true necessity of it.

Moved by Alderman Ptak and seconded by Alderman Reynolds to deny the request to add stop signs or yield signs for southbound traffic on Illinois Street at Lindberg Road intersection and on Campbell Ave at Lindberg Road intersection.

NAYS: Alderman Crane Absent: NONE Abstain: NONE

MOTION CARRIED: 6-1

Alderman Lavieri asked if the stop signs at 5th and Bucklin were going to stay the current way with flags and not do double stop signs like it was once discussed. City Engineer Brown believes that the flags are working well.

There were no questions or comments from the public. 

Moved by Alderman Reynolds and seconded by Alderman Crane to adjourn the meeting.

Voice vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

Chairman Bacidore adjourned the meeting at 6:20 p.m.
