FOIA Request to City of Oglesby Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Illinois Valley Times have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, to the City of Oglesby.
The request specifically seeks a list of all parking violations currently unpaid within the city. The information requested includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of each violation, and the total amount due.
As journalists committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
